Crochet Cowl

I had some yarn left over from a sweater I knitted earlier this year and it must be the colder weather or something, but I am constantly looking at patterns for scarves and mittens. So I thought I would try and use the yarn to make a cowl. It is Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed Chunky in a dark purple. John Lewis had it on sale over a year ago and I bought a whole batch with no specific project in mind, but managed to use the bulk of it for a pattern from Jane Brocket's book "The Gentle Art of Knitting".

A lovely book with great patterns. A lovely present from a lovely friend.

Take a look at Jane's lovely blog Yarnstorm and if you want to escape for a few hours I'd highly recommend another of her books "The Gentle Art of Domesticity" which I stumbled upon in the library one day and had to source a copy of my own.

However, back to the cowl.....the pattern was on the I Made It! blog, I used a 6mm hook and managed to use some ceramic buttons that I bought from Low Sizergh Barn on a trip South a couple of years ago.  A lovely place for a browse and some food shopping if you are in the Kendal area.
